About Me

I was blessed to have been born into a family of origin that supported and encouraged the development of my intuitive abilities.  From an early age , I would share visions and dreams of the past and the future, and have them confirmed by my elders.  By the time I approached young adulthood, I found myself drawn to alternative spirituality and would spend my evenings curled up on the couch in the New Age section of my local Barnes & Noble.  This is where my journey began.  I learned about the vast potential of human consciousness, the energetic body and alternative health and wellness, as well as the balance between the physical body, psyche, and spirit.  I purchased my first deck of tarot cards (Universal Waite) at the age of 16, and started to familiarize myself with the practice of divination.

Yoga, as a concept and philosophy, was something my family referenced when digging up memories of the "old country" or my great-grandmother Bebe, an inspirational force of nature who donned tattoos, a septum ring, and had a regular pranayama practice. My great-grandparents gradually converted from Hinduism to Christianity, and (unfortunately) yoga was considered a relic of the past - of the "heretics. As a young agnostic, I associated the practice of yoga with religion, and made the decision to avoid it while defining my own sense of spirituality.

In early 2008, I took a class in positive psychology (a.k.a. ‘Happiness 101’), and learned that by inviting new/good habits into your life, you actually are able to change yourself both mentally and physically (after 21 days of implementing this new habit, a new neural pathway is formed). I learned that the practice of asanas was a magnificent way of actually rewiring your brain. Yoga: the union of mind, body and spirit, utilizes breath to clear out toxins and mental chatter, and remind oneself of the interconnectedness of all there is. I took my first vinyasa yoga class later that year, and was subsequently hooked.

My path eventually led me to the title of Usui Reiki Master, and I discovered my passion of serving  others in a meaningful way.  I completed teacher training with Mimi Loureiro at O2 Yoga in  the Fall of 2017, and trauma-informed yoga with Firefly Yoga International in the Spring of 2018.

After I gained some experience as a yoga instructor, I reconnected with my ancestral Hindu roots, and joined a virtual coven of eclectic witches in 2020.  I am now a dedicant of Shakti, the divine cosmic primordial feminine energy that flows through our existence.  The embodiments of Shakti I am most closely connected to are Lakshmi, Durga, Kali and Lilith.  I do not always call upon these energies in my work, but feel the presence of Shakti in my daily life as the conduit of all creativity, and as the universal life force through Reiki.  I most often utilize this energy for healing, tarot readings and spellwork and only occasionally in yoga classes.

In addition to all the alternative spirituality (“woo-woo”), I am also a fan of alternative subcultures.  My values and lifestyle are aligned with punk and post-punk ideologies, and you’ll often find me teaching with curated playlists to accompany vinyasa flows.

Lastly, as a queer witch and woman of color, I try to give back to the community however possible, primarily by offering service on a sliding-scale basis.  I look forward to sharing my practice with you, in whatever capacity makes sense to your personal journey.
